You can never discount Roy
You can never discount Roy Hodgson...He has shown how he can not only save a team from the brink of relegation, but he can get a team to win...Don't fancy The Cottagers getting relegated, but FAR too early to say who will right now.
Far too early?, you must
Far too early?, you must have an opinion?
OK then, Hull, Stoke and
OK then, Hull, Stoke and Wigan are my choices right now.
I think the odds are also
I think the odds are also against Stoke and Hull - playoff teams particularly have struggled down the years.
That said, I think Phil Brown at Hull is at least giving it a go with his transfer targets. His experience at Bolton tells him he needs pace, power and some proven quality - and thats what he's generally trying to get, as best he can. Hats off for that.
I think Hull stand a better chance therefore than Stoke - who scored a lot of goals last year from set pieces or by pressurising mistakes. They won't get a fraction of these chances in the premiership. And when an out-of-sorts Newcastle played them in the cup last year, their defence was cut apart aswell at SJP.
I really think TP has got it wrong with his approach. Lke Phil Brown, he should have been going through brick walls to spend £10-£15m on 6 players of the likes of Sorenson, Gabbidon, Primus, N Zogbia, Solano, Stellios, Harewood, Zamora, Lita... Plus promoted teams always seem to benefit from a season from a wise, albeit slightly past it old international (Djorkaeff at B/ham, Campo at Bolton etc, Sheringham at W/ham) - how about Zenden (!)..
Well said. The only new
Well said. The only new teams to have made any attempts to make any decent signings are Hull City and West Brom, what Stoke will manage is still open to debate, but Phil Brown has started off with a couple of great captures in Geovanni and Craig Fagan, and is looking to extend his squad considerably.
Either way I think that another cracking Premiership season awaits us, good luck to the new boys!!!
Craig Fagan ......great
Craig Fagan ......great capture???? Must have been sleeping while Phil Brown snatched him from under the noses of Real Madrid........or was it Scunthorpe. As for Geovanni, will the coffers at the KC Stadium run deep enough to buy all those hats and gloves he'll need when it gets cold, did he play for City when the sun didn't shine?.......no!
Ah, Spurs4Life, I think we
Ah, Spurs4Life, I think we are talking "relatively" great capture here. I afraid spending £15m a season on a selection of right backs is not quite an option!
For the promoted teams, because you can't afford the big names, do you not think that the technical ability of squads have probably been similar down the years - so it ends up being about the best blend, with the limited resources? For me, that blend is a combination of some pace up front, some power down the backbone and some experience (plus signing a respectable name means others are more likely to sign).
Craig Fagan will probably end up a squad player, but he will add pace, particularly in the last half hour. As for Geovanni, he's technically a very good player... and didn't Ronaldo wear gloves too?
Hull are also after quite a few powerful, pacy or proven players (in this relative bracket) like Makaay, Nugent, Boyd, Stellios, Meite, etc... Overall, the point is, if they carry on and land a few, they stand the chance of being a Birmingham or Wigan, rather than a Derby.
OK, no woopie do for Spurs, but I just reckon Hull (or Stoke or WBA) would be pretty delirious if they ended up 17th next season.
So, being regular watcher of lofty club in lofty league, what tips would you give the new boys to have a cat in hells chance?
Good points made there
Good points made there Dave99. I sincerely hope that all of the newcomers give it a proper go, and there is only a certain amount of money you can throw at individual players.
The intent is there (at least from two of the promoted clubs...COME ON STOKE, what are you up to?).
I can't conceive that any of these teams will 'Do a Derby' this season (sorry Rams fans out there, but true)... Or at least I hope not, and at without doubt the fans will will add to the joy of the upcoming Premiership season.
Still a long way to go before the season kicks-off, so many more signings to come!
I see ManU, Chelsea and
I see ManU, Chelsea and Arsenal being relegated this season. LOL!! Kidding!! I see Stoke, Wigan and Bolton going down.
I have NO PROBLEM with that
I have NO PROBLEM with that AT ALL!!! (The first choices i mean) as long as the TRUE Reds win the Premiership for the first time!!
Well Earn78, hope you got it
Well Earn78, hope you got it right the first time, as for the (true) Reds winning it, are u suggesting that Man U kits fade in the wash?
