Wigan Athletic, Chelsea Premiership Match Previews

Wigan Athletic host Chelsea in the Premier League match at the JJB Stadium on Sunday.

Latics boss Steve Bruce will take some positives out of the 2-1 defeat to West Ham United at Upton Park last week, but his Wigan side will face another tough test against Chelsea and will hope to come away from the game with something to show for their efforts.

Chelsea were impressive last week in their 4-0 destruction of Portsmouth at Stamford Bridge and look to be playing a positive brand of football under new manager Luiz Felipe Scolari. So will be looking to make the return trip to London on Sunday night with another three points in the bag.

Wigan will have to do without defender’s Ryan Taylor and Erik Edman, who have knee problems, but Bruce will be able to call on the rest of his squad against the Blues.

Chelsea have Ivory Coast International Didier Drogba out with a knee injury and German International Michael Ballack very doubtful with a foot problem, but apart from that Scolari has his full complement of superstar’s to choose from.
