Wigan Striker Emile Heskey Suffers Injury- Likely To Be Out For England’s Euro 2008 Qualifiers
England international Emile Heskey has reportedly broken his metatarsal and will be a doubtful starter in England’s two crucial Euro 2008 qualifiers.
Steve McClaren’s side will take on Estonia on the 13th of October and then will face Russia four days later in Moscow.
Regarding Heskey’s injury Wigan chairman Dave Whelan said: "It is not serious but it is still six weeks."
The 29-year old striker was injured nine minutes into the Latics game against Fulham. The scan which he underwent later confirmed the injury.
"It is such bad luck - bad for Wigan, bad for England," added Whelan.
"I think he will definitely miss the first England game.”
"It is bad luck, we are all aware of that. We were shocked on Saturday. He just jumped up in the air and came down on his ankle."
Recently Heskey was recalled back into the England’s side, after being left out for almost three years, for the recently held qualifiers against Israel and Russia.
Heskey featured in both the matches and impressed everyone by his performance playing alongside Michael Owen.
