Wigan’s Hutchings Reveals Heskey Boost

Wigan Athletic Player Injury and Suspension News

Wigan Athletic’s England striker Emile Heskey is likely to be back within two weeks, revealed the Latics boss Chris Hutchings.

Heskey is recovering from a metatarsal fracture, which he picked against Fulham on September 15. He then missed England’s crucial Euro 2008 qualifiers against Estonia and Russia.

Three Lions boss Steve McClaren will be hoping the former Liverpool player recovers in time for the final qualifier against Croatia later this month.

“Emile got the all-clear to start jogging on Tuesday after seeing a specialist, so it’s a matter of how much he can do now without over-extending himself,” said Hutchings.

“He has a general fitness regime that he needs to go through now, so we are looking at him being ready in about two weeks. It’s a day-to-day thing because we don’t want any problems.”
