Wigan To Make Second Raid On Birmingham For Kapo
Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce is set to raid former club Birmingham City again by making an offer to bring French midfielder Olivier Kapo to the JJB Stadium.
Latics boss Bruce signed the 27-year-old from Serie A club Juventus for £3million (€3.8m) in 2007, and is keen to link up with the former French International.
It is believed that Wigan are to offer fellow Frenchman Antoine Sibierski plus cash for Kapo, who is also a main target of Ligue 1 team Olympique Marseille. Both Sibierski and Kapo are represented by Willie Mckay.
McKay told the Wigan Observer: "Steve Bruce is a big admirer of Olivier having worked with him before and would like to bring him to Wigan, while Marseille hope they can bring him back to France.
"I believe Wigan are prepared to offer some players in exchange to try and persuade Birmingham to do a deal".
Kapo, who has yet to turn up for pre-season training at St Andrews, due to apparently having surgery on his hand in France, looks set to follow Daniel De Ridder, who joined the Latics from the Blues last week after having his contract with the Championship side cancelled “by mutual consent”.
