Wigan Boss Steve Bruce Confident Of Zaki Future As Premiership Big Boys Watch

Wigan Athletic Premiership Transfer News

Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce has said Amr Zaki has a real future in the Premiership if he continues in his all-action style.

The Egypt international forward has already impressed following his loan arrival at the JJB Stadium from El Zamalek, scoring five league goals in six top-flight appearances for Steve Bruce’s side.

And with top English sides alerted to the powerful forward’s ability, the Latics boss, who earlier put Zaki in former Newcastle legend Alan Shearer mould, has stressed that the 25-year-old is an asset for Wigan.

"I said at the start of the season that Zaki is something a bit different which people might not have seen before and he put in a fantastic performance," Bruce said after the victory over Manchester City on Sunday.

"If he keeps playing like that he is going to be a real handful for any defender and have a real future in the Premier League.

"He is already an asset for us. I don't mean it disrespectfully to the old-fashioned English centre-forward but he is an English-style centre-forward which you don't really see anymore.

"His physique is great, he has awesome power and pace and of course he wants to score goals which is the important thing.”
