Wigan Boss Steve Bruce Releases Socceroo Josip Skoko & Cameroon's Salomon Olembé
Wigan Athletic have released Australian international Josip Skoko and Cameroon defender Salomon Olembe after Latics boss Steve Bruce decided not to renew their contracts.
Socceroo midfielder Skoko joined Wigan from Turkish side Gençlerbirligi in August 2005, making 53 appearances, 45 of those in the Premier League, but has now been released, with his three-year deal about to expire.
Former Leeds United and Marseille defender Salomon Olembé has also been released and has moved to Turkish side Kayserispor.
The 27-year-old Cameroon international made only seven appearances for The Latics, but his one year contract has also expired.
Wigan boss Steve Bruce is expected to be bringing in some big-name players this summer and is starting his clear-out, but despite them leaving, Bruce is appreciative of their contribution.
"It's always sad saying goodbye to good pros," Bruce said.
