Wigan Athletic's Chris Hutchings Hopes In-Form Striker Antoine Sibierski Makes Swift Return After Hamstring Injury At West Ham
Wigan Athletic boss Chris Hutchings has revealed that he took off in-form striker Antoine Sibierski as soon as the former Newcastle United player had his hamstring tighten up, in the first-half of 1-1 draw at West Ham United on Saturday.
The 33-year-old Frenchman, who joined the Latcis on a free transfer from the Toon this summer, had scored three goals in as many games and Hutchings is hoping that he makes a swift return.
"Sibierski felt his hamstring tighten up and we got him off quickly before it got too bad," Hutchings told the Wigan Evening Post.
"We didn't want him playing on and pulling the muscle, which would have meant him being out for two months or whatever.
"It was important we dealt with it swiftly and the medical staff will assess his condition in the coming days.
"Hopefully we won't be without him for too long because he's an important player for us."
