Wigan Athletic Boss Chris Hutchings Reveals Leighton Baines Is Happy To Stay – Carlo Nash Arrives At JJB From Preston
Wigan Athletic manager Chris Hutchings has disclosed that full-back Leighton Baines is happy to stay at the JJB Stadium.
The England U-21 international had been persistently linked with Newcastle United while reports last month also claimed Liverpool were also in the hunt for the highly-rated 22-year-old.
Baines was also reportedly not keen to stay with the Latics following Paul Jewell’s resignation, which apparently shocked him, at the end of last season.
However, the current Latics boss Hutchings is not worried over the left-back’s situation more so after they have had a talk.
Hutchings said in the Manchester Evening News: “Baines has told me he is happy to stay and I am certainly not looking to sell him.”
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Carlo Nash has completed his move to Wigan from Preston North End on a two-year deal for a fee of £300,000.
The 33-year-old, who had come to the JJB on an emergency loan last season, had a fall-out with PNE boss Paul Simpson and was subsequently transfer-listed.
Nash will be lining up behind Chris Kirkland and Mike Pollitt in the pecking order.
