West Ham United midfielder Nigel Quashie is close to a loan move to Championship side Birmingham City after impressing Blues boss Alex McLeish during a trial at St Andrews.
30-year-old Quashie signed for the Hammers last summer from West Bromwich Albion, but was restricted to a handful of appearances in the Premier League last season due to a foot injury.
Scottish International Quashie has been training with City and now looks set to leave Upton Park, with McLeish looking to hold on to the midfielder by offering him a three-month loan deal at the Midlands side.
“I think if he progresses the way he already has then there is a very good chance we will sign him,” said McLeish.
