Sweden captain Freddie Ljungberg is an early doubt for this summer’s Euro Championship finals as he has a cracked rib playing for West Ham United in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Newcastle.

The Hammers winger was stretchered off at Upton Park after a clash with Toon defender Steven Taylor close to half-way stage in the first half.

Manager Alan Curbishley, who has seen his players suffer injury problems throughout the season, said: "I think Taylor has tried to leapfrog him and landed on him. He has been raked all down the side and front of his face and cracked a rib.

"That's another one out for us but we are hoping he will be okay for the Euros."
