Czech Republic International Roman Bednar has pleaded with West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Mowbray for the chance to prove he can perform in the Premier League.

Bednar, who was a £2.3million signing from SPL side Hearts in the summer has had to sit on the bench so far at the Hawthorns, with Mowbray opting to play a 4-5-1 formation for the first three games of the Premiership.

This has seen Ishmael Miller occupy the role, but Bednar is confident that if Mowbray were to play him he would score the goals to earn the Baggies their first league win of the season.

Bednar said: “I know I can score goals.”

“I am sure any of the strikers here can score goals in the Premier League but I am feeling really sharp and hopefully the manager will decide I am ready to play.”

25-year-old Bednar played a prominent part in Albion winning the Championship last year while on loan from the Scottish club, which prompted the Midlands club to make the transfer permanent.
