West Brom Boss Mowbray Ready To Deal

West Bromwich Albion Premiership Transfer News

West Bromich Albion boss Tony Mowbray is planning to bring some new faces to the Hawthorns after revealing that selling clubs are reducing their asking prices to more realistic levels.

The Baggies manager is adamant there can be “no panic” in his targeting of new players, although high wages are another key factor against him as he tries to bring the right players to Albion to ensure a successful campaign in the Premier League.

“Things are starting to warm up a little bit now, people are starting to buy players and deals are starting to get done,’’ he said.

“It feels like we have been back a month, and I’m not sure how long it is since we have been trying to do this, but from the ridiculous time when you first ask about a player and everyone is asking around £10million or £15million, we are now at a time where prices start to come back to you a little bit.

“That’s when they realise you might be one of only a couple of clubs in the hunt (for targets).

“People are starting to become a little more realistic about prices, so hopefully things will speed up a little bit.

“I’ve always said to the chairman that if there is a player there, then we should try and get him, so let’s wait and see. And let’s not panic about it”.

Mowbray knows that he needs to strengthen his squad to avoid going straight back down to the Championship, despite the introduction of £3million defender Gianni Zuiverloon from Dutch side SC Heerenveen this week.

“The squad is not deep enough at the moment,’’ he said.

“I am very sure in my mind that we have to get the right ones.

“If it takes another 40-odd days then you have got to be patient on it.

“We can’t get them all in this week, we do have irons in the fire, as we have for the last few weeks”.
