Walcott Blow Could Force Arsenal Boss Wenger Into Transfer Market To Resurrect Title Challenge
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed, what could be a big blow to his side’s title challenge, winger Theo Walcott is set for at least a three-month spell on the sidelines due to a dislocated shoulder.
The 19-year-old, who has been one of the Gunners’ best players so far this season, suffered the setback while training with England squad ahead of last night’s friendly against Germany in Berlin.
“He dislocated his shoulder during training, he will be out for at least three months,” said Wenger while commentating during a friendly between France and Uruguay on Wednesday.
Walcott injury blow could also force Wenger in the January transfer market as the French tactician had recently said he will assess the situation at the end of the year with regards to making plans for the transfer window.
Despite having a thin central midfield following summer departures of Gilberto and Mathieu Flamini, Wenger has managed to bring in his reserves and fill up the gaps, but the injury to former Southampton ace Walcott could see the Arsenal manager go in for an experienced creative player as Cesc Fabregas also been below-par so far this season while talented teenager Jack Wilshere is inexperienced.
Recently when asked whether he had made transfer plans, Wenger had said: "It's far from decided. We will make a check at the end of December and we will see. We have had many players out and showed we have a great squad that can win the big games."
