England have gone into halftime level at 1-1 against the Czech Republic in their International friendly match at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday evening with goals from Milan Baros and Wes Brown seeing the scores level at the break.

The game started brightly, with both sides eager to test each other’s defences.

Steven Gerrard was the first player to test Czech keeper Petr Cech, with a fizzing shot from the edge of the penalty area which forced the Chelsea keeper to parry the ball away well to take it to safety.

Jaroslav Plasil was brought down by Gareth Barry, with the Aston Villa skipper seeing the first yellow-card of the match for the offence.

Milan Baros tested David James in the 15th minute, beating the England offside trap and shooting well with his right foot from an angle to force the Portsmouth keeper into a fine diving save to deny his former Portsmouth teammate from scoring.

Baros made no mistake six minutes later as he collected the ball in the
penalty area and turned well to shoot on target, with the ball deflecting off Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole and the ball beating David James, who had already committed himself - 1-0 to the visitors, as it started raining heavily at Wembley.

Jermain Defoe forced Czech into another save just before the half-hour mark after a nice bit of interplay between Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard and Defoe, but the final touch from Defoe wasn’t enough to properly test the Czech number one.

Minutes later, Defoe had another attempt, this time from the edge of the penalty area, with Cech once again alert enough to come from his line to save.

Both Gerrard and Defoe had further attempts at goal, hoping to beat Cech on the now extremely slick surface, but Cech made the saves look easy, while the visitors constantly posed a threat on the break.

Manchester United defender Wes Brown scored the equaliser minutes before the half-time break, heading home from a David Beckham corner to level the scores, much to the relief of the England fans.

The game went into half-time 1-1, with England looking slightly jaded, while the Czech Republic have looked solid, with a good attacking attitude.
