United Boss Ferguson: 'I've No Idea What's Going On' With Spurs' Berbatov

Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United Premiership Transfer News

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he has “no idea what is going on” in relation to the proposed move of Tottenham Hotspur striker Dimitar Berbatov to Old Trafford.

27-year-old Bulgarian International Berbatov has been Ferguson’s main transfer target all summer, but the United manager has balked at Spurs’ £30million asking price.

However, Tottenham are also unwilling to let Berbatov leave White Hart Lane until a suitable replacement has been found. With it understood that this is what is holding up the Bulgarian’s dream move to the Red Devils.

Roman Pavlyuchenko is set to join Spurs from Spartak Moscow in the next couple of days, with his Russian International strike-partner Andrei Arshavin also heavily linked with a move to the North London club along with Klaas Jan Hunterlaar of Ajax. Which would let Spurs allow Berbatov to leave after two successful years at the club.

Berbatov has already handed in a transfer request and has made no secret of his desire to join the Premiership Champions and play in the Champions League and was subsequently dropped from the Tottenham squad last weekend.

With it now understood that United will meet with Spurs in Monaco to try and thrash out a deal for the former Bayer Leverkusen player later this week.

“I'm less optimistic so we'll carry on,” Ferguson said.

“I've no idea what's going on.

“It's very hard to get communication with some people in life.”
