United Beat Late Bids From Man City & Real Madrid To Sign Berbatov, With Hull Target Campbell Joining Spurs
Manchester United have won the race to sign Bulgarian international Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham Hotspur, with the centre forward seen going into a meeting with United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and chief executive David Gill to talk personal terms after completing a routine medical on Monday night.
Berbatov has been the subject today of late bids by Manchester City, who are believed to have offered in excess of £30million for the classy striker, along with Real Madrid, who were reportedly ready to pay £36.5million for Berbatov.
The 27-year-old had already spoken to City today, with it understood that the new owners ADUG offered the forward a staggering £150,00-a-week to make the move to the Eastlands side of Manchester.
However, Berbatov has made the choice to realise what he had called his dream and made the switch to Old Trafford for a fee in the region of £30million, with striker Fraizer Campbell leaving in the opposite direction to White Hart Lane on a season-long loan and not Hull City, who had made a £7million offer for the England Under-21 International.
