UEFA Cup Update: Bayern Munich Fight Back In Injury Time To Beat Getafe 4-4 on Aggregate To Reach Semi-Finals
Bayern Munich have fought back from a two-goal deficit to draw 3-3 with Getafe in extra-time in their UEFA Cup quarter-final second-leg match at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez in Madrid on Thursday night meaning they progress to the Semi-Finals of the tournament.
Spanish La Liga side Getafe, who carried a 1-1 away goal advantage into the second-leg of the quarter finals against Bayern Munich, were leading the German giants 1-0 at halftime, with Cosmin Contra scoring for Getafe to make it 2-2 on aggregate, after going down to 10-men after Ruben Gutierrez De la Red was sent-off in the 7th minute of the match.
Franck Ribery scored for Bayern Munich late in the second-half of the match to make it 2-2 on aggregate to take the game to extra-time, but Getafe managed an amazing goal in the first minute of extra-time with a strike from Javi Casquero to make it 2-1 on the night and 3-2 on aggregate.
Minutes later Nobrega Braulio scored to make it 3-1, but Bayern fought back to give the win to the Bundesliga leaders.
Italian international striker Luca Toni struck home twice in the last five minutes of extra-time to give Bayern Munich a 3-3 draw on the night and a 4-4 aggregate win on away goals.
Bayern Munich have now sealed a place in the Semi-Finals where they will meet Zenit St. Petersburg.
