Turkey manager Fatih Terim is reportedly interested in the vacant manager’s job at Newcastle United, according to his representative Mel Goldberg.

Following the decision last Thursday of Kevin Keegan to quit St James’ Park for a second time. The Magpies are now looking for a new high profile boss for the Magpies, which might appease the Toon Army, who have let their anger be known about the circumstances that led to Keegan’s departure.

United Legend Alan Shearer has ruled himself out of the running with the Magpies record goalscorer not willing to work with director Dennis Wise at St James’ Park. Another, candidate to rule themselves out is Portsmouth’s Harry Redknapp, who was on the brink of taking the job before Keegan.

Terim, who has been in charge of Turkey since 2005, is highly thought of in the game with the former Galatasaray and AC Milan boss taking the unfancied Turk’s to the semi-finals in EURO 2008 this summer.

Goldberg has revaled that Terim would certainly be interested in managing a big club like Newcastle, who has passionate fans.

“It goes without saying that any manager, including Terim, would be interested in a position like this,” Goldberg told Setanta Sports News.

‘Newcastle is a massive club with passionate fans and we hope they bring in the right man for the job.”
