Tottenham Set For Climax In Arshavin Chase As Zenit Boss Advocaat Tells Spurs To Up The Offer
Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Russian star Andrei Arshavin is set to reach a climax with the summer transfer window shutting on August 31 midnight, as Zenit St Petersburg coach Dick Advocaat has told the north-Londoners to up their offer if they want to sign the wantaway attacker.
Spurs have been in disagreement with Zenit over their valuation, and now Advocaat has disclosed that the Premiership club have only offered €16 million (approximately £13m) and not the reported £18m for the 27-year-old, whom Juande Ramos’ side have been chasing all summer.
"They (Tottenham) had several weeks of time to buy him and they did not offer €22 million (£18m) like everybody has been writing but just €16 million,” Advocaat has been reported as saying.
"I think that Arshavin costs more than €16 million."
