Tottenham Hotspur manager Juande Ramos has termed Manchester United as the best side in England.

The Red Devils, who won the Premiership title last year after a four-year wait, are currently at the top of the table, looking good to retain it. However, Arsenal are equal on points, and Chelsea, four points less, are both close contenders.

Nevertheless, the Spanish tactician feels Sir Alex Ferguson’s side ‘are a great team’ and the one to ‘judge your own team against.’

"United are a great team, and I don't use that term loosely," he said in the Mirror.

"You could say in every country there is one team who are maybe a pip above the others and United at the moment in England are that team.

"With my experience with Sevilla, we were frequently in close contact with Real Madrid and Barcelona and there was always one or the other of those who were in the best position.

"United are that team in England now.

"They're probably the best team in the country and the one to beat. They are the side you judge your own team against."

Spurs play host to the Red Devils in the Premiership later on Saturday.
