Tottenham’s Poyet: It’s Too Easy To Blame Berbatov For Spurs’ Situation
Tottenham Hotspur assistant-boss Gus Poyet is not taking the easy way out that of blaming Dimitar Berbatov’s protracted transfer saga for Spurs’ ongoing problems.
The Bulgarian striker, who was an excellent signing for the north-Londoners in 2006 summer from Bayer Leverkusen, was determined to leave for Manchester United this summer and finally got his dream move on the transfer deadline day.
But by then, the uncertainty around his future and his unwillingness to give his best to the White Hart Lane outfit, seemed to have affected Juande Ramos’ Spurs, who have still not found their feet and lie at the bottom of the Premiership table.
As such the classy 27-year-old forward has been under fire from many including Terry Venables, being blamed for Spurs’ problems, but Poyet is rubbishing the theory.
"I think it's too easy to blame one person, so here we are all in the same situation and especially the players that are here," he told Sky Sports News.
"I don't see how it's possible to blame someone who isn't at Tottenham."
