Spurs & Arsenal Target Veloso: Sporting 'Didn't Receive Any Offers'
Despite all the rumours of a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, Sporting Lisbon midfielder Miguel Veloso has revealed that he never thought of departing from the Estadio Jose Alvalade and paid no attention to the media reports regarding his future with the Lisbon side.
22-year-old Veloso had also been linked with a move to Spurs' local rivals Arsenal, with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger known to be an admirer of the Portuguese International, but Veloso has now also revealed that the Leoes did not receive any firm offers for him. With Veloso now stating that it is his present that is more important than his future after committing himself to Sporting until 2013.
Veloso said: "I never thought about leaving Sporting to join another club.
"In addition, I have signed a contract until June 2013 and I will give the maximum to the team.
"To be honest I didn`t pay much attention to the news published in the press regarding my future this summer.
"Frankly I`m aware of the fact English clubs are following me but I say again that I didn`t speak with anybody and the club didn`t receive offers.
"Sporting can fight for anything this season - the league and the Portuguese cup, and even playing an important role in the Champions League.
"The team seems stronger to me, with more experience than last year. Right now my present is important to me, not my future."
