Tottenham Boss Ramos: Spurs Squad Of Greater Overall Quality Without Keane & Berbatov
Tottenham Hotspur boss Juande Ramos believes there is more quality in the Spurs squad now as compared to the one he had at his disposal when he had taken charge at the North London club in October last year.
In the major happenings during the close season, Spurs have lost their free-scoring strike pairing of Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov to Liverpool and Manchester United respectively.
Ramos is confident that their absence will not be felt as youngster Fraizer Campbell and Roman Pavlyuchenko have joined Darren Bent in the forwardline. However, the Spanish tactician, who guided Spurs to Carling Cup trophy last season, has urged the fans to be patient in the wake of a disappointing start to the Premiership campaign where they have just one point from three games.
"The young ones always bring hope, willingness and ambition to a team and that helps the group to form personality and character,” Ramos is quoted as saying in the Mirror.
"If they are also quality players and willing to give everything, the level of team competitiveness increases."
Ramos added: "The team is working well. We have made mistakes and been unlucky but this is only the beginning.
"Now we have to continue working hard, build our confidence and find our own character as a group.
"The team has the possibility to improve enormously.
"I ask the fans to be patient and keep giving us the same support as they always have. I have little doubt that we have a squad of greater overall quality now than when I began."
