Tottenham Boss Juande Ramos Reveals Dimitar Berbatov's Decision To Move Away From White Hart Lane

Tottenham Boss Juande Ramos revealed that his star striker Dimitar Berbatov has at last come to a decision regarding his future amidst constant speculation, but the decision will not be to the benefit of Spurs.

Ramos would have loved for the Bulgarian to stay on at the club, but Berbatov is keen to be featuring in the Champions League and now is being linked with Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, while Manchester United have also been showing keen interest.

Speaking to reporters Ramos said: “I understand perfectly well that big clubs want to sign him. I've spoken to him many times and know exactly what he wants.

"I would obviously like him to stay here but we don't know how future negotiations will go so it is something I cannot guarantee," he added ahead of Tottenham's final league match of the season at home to Liverpool on Sunday.

According to reports Berbatov could be swapped with Barcelona's Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o but Ramos said:

"I'm sure the club would prefer to have the money because... they would be able to sign the players necessary. They would be able to look on the market for appropriate players."

"Obviously, we have to cover our backs in case the player decides to leave and we have to have options to replace him," said Ramos.

"It's a normal situation that teams always want good footballers. If there are offers coming in for the player we will see if they convince the club and the player as well. At this stage of the season you never know what is going to happen.

"What we want is for the player to be happy and enjoy his football. I'm indifferent if he went to one team or another team. The only thing I can tell you now is that he is a Tottenham Hotspur player.

"We are perfectly calm about it. We are not going to make a decision until there is an offer on the table the club would be interested in."
