Swiss International Inler To Sign For Arsenal Next Week? Newcastle Also Linked
Swiss International Gokhan Inler is set to join Arsenal from Serie A side Udinese on a four-year deal as early as next week, according to Swiss sports paper Blick.
24-year-old Inler has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium all summer since his performances in EURO 2008, with the former FC Zurich midfielder also being linked with a move to Newcastle United.
However, Bianconeri general director rejected any such link as being “absurd”, insisting that Inler was not going anywhere.
Now Inler’s agent Dino Lamberti has revealed that he has held talks with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger about a proposed switch from the Stadio Friuli to the Emirates Stadium for the defensive-midfielder.
“It is true that I met with Arsène Wenger,” Lamberti said to Blick.
“There were very positive talks.”
Wenger is believed to have been in contact with the Zebrette about Inler, who is reported to have a £5million (€6.4m) buy-out clause in his present deal with the Serie A club.
