Sunderland To Miss Miller; Ireland Midfielder Suffers A Calf Injury In Brazil Match
Sunderland midfielder Liam Miller has been ruled out for three weeks after suffering a calf injury while on international duty.
The 26-year old central midfielder injured himself before in the first half of Republic of Ireland’s 1-0 loss to Brazil at Croke Park on Wednesday and was substituted at half-time.
Miller admits he was unhappy for not being able continue for the entire match, but keeping his fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.
"It is a calf injury. The physio said that hopefully it wasn't too bad, but I am looking at three weeks out, something like that," Miller confirmed in the Sunderland Echo.
"I will see the Sunderland physio in the morning, and he will assess it.
"I thought the match was going OK. Obviously I would have liked to have played the second half, but that is sometimes what happens.
"Obviously I am very unhappy with the injury. I thought it was going OK for me, and I was hoping the longer the game went on, the better I would get."
Miller may not feature for the Black Cats ion their coming two Premiership games against Wigan and Portsmouth, but is likely to make an appearance at Derby on 1st March.
