West Ham boss Alan Curbishley announced that the club have accepted Sunderland’s bid for Anton Ferdinand, who has also been linked with Tottenham.
The central defender was valued to be around £8million, after he had turned down a new contract at West Ham.
The Hammers boss told BBC Radio 5 Live: "The board have accepted the bid, he's not renegotiated his contract and the decision was taken out of my hands.
"I don't know where Anton is in terms of signing for Sunderland, but once the club accept the bid it moves on.
"We are thin on the ground and if we lose another defender we will have to react to that."
