Villa Striker Juan Pablo Angel Linked to West Brom or River Plate, Fears He May Not Feature for Colombia in Copa America
Aston Villa striker Juan Pablo Angel has been linked with a move to West Brom or Argentinian side River Plate in the press recently, and while he says he is 'comfortable' at Villa Park, he claims to have received many offers to move away.
Aston Villa’s Juan Pablo Angel has revealed he was close to a move to Arsenal last season, but the move broke down because they could not agree a fee.
"I've had the chance to leave many times, but no agreement has been reached. Last year, in fact, I had to chance to go to Arsenal, but it wasn't possible because Aston Villa asked for too much money."
"Nobody has told me anything at all about the possibility of moving away from Villa," he said. "I am very comfortable where I am. I want to stay in Europe for a few more years, but I am going to analyse all the possibilities anyway.
Angel has not appeared for Villa since 31st January, when he came on as a sub for the last five minutes against Newcastle, and is growingly concerned that he will not be given the chance to play for Colombia in the Copa America.
"If the coach of Colombia thinks that I am useful to the team, I am ready to be recalled, but as I haven't been playing frequently for my club, maybe I won't play in the Copa America.
"I suppose the coach will call up the players who have had more time on the pitch this season."
