West Brom, Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers are now said to be left in the hunt to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson after Stoke City confirmed their pull-out.
The newly-promoted Premiership outfit had earlier agreed a transfer fee in the region of £4 million for the England international, who is expected to leave Anfield this summer. However, Stoke have now announced on their official website that they are no longer in the pursuit of the 22-year-old.
“We can announce we are no longer pursuing Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson.
“The club will continue to look to improve the squad and remain hopeful of closing in on several new signings ahead of the Premier League campaign.”
