Spurs Price Portsmouth Out Of Kaboul Move - Sunderland & Aston Villa Linked

Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland, Portsmouth, Aston Villa Premiership Transfer News

Portsmouth look set to lose out on Tottenham Hotspur defender Younes Kaboul, with Pompey manager Harry Redknapp not prepared to pay over the odds for the former French Under-21 International, according to reports.

22-year-old Kaboul has also been linked with a move to Sunderland, where he agreed personal terms and underwent a medical, along with Aston Villa. With the central-defender favouring a move to Fratton Park.

However, Spurs are reportedly wanting in excess of £7million for Kaboul, as they try to recoup the £7million they paid Auxerre for the defender in 2007, before Tottenham manager Juande Ramos lets him leave White Hart Lane.

“He's a young player I tried to sign before and I'm interested, but the price has got to be right.

“We can't be paying over the top, you've got to pay what you consider to be a fair price for players,” said Redknapp.

Redknapp believes that a deal dependant on performance would suit the FA Cup Winners better.

“I think clubs, like us, need to do a deal where if you go and play games and they're successful, great, you pay the money,” He continued.

“If players come and they don't do the business, I think you've got to be more creative with doing transfers.

“If they're successful you don't mind paying.”
