Tottenham Hotspur are about to swoop for striker Radamel Falcao at Argentine club River Plate, according to reports in the South American press.

22-year-old Falcao had been linked with moves to Manchester United, Real Madrid and Arsenal earlier in the summer, but reportedly is now a target for Spurs manager Juande Ramos, who is looking to pair the Colombian International with Roman Pavlyuchenko when the Russian completes his expexted move from Spartak Moscow in the next couple of days.

Falcao was the subject of offers from Aston Villa and AC Milan in the past, but River Plate resisted the attempts to sign the striker, who has scored 25 goals in 65 appearances for the Argentine Champions. Falcao has suffered from a series of niggling injuries during his short career, but is now back to full fitness and is ready to end his three years at the El Monumental in favour of a reported £7million transfer to White Hart Lane.

His agent Nestor Sivori has confirmed that United and La Liga Champions Real Madrid were tracking the Colombian this summer, but maintains that when the right moment comes they will analyze all their possibilities. With reports in the Argentine press suggesting that Falcao will be allowed to leave for the right price.

Should Falcao arrive at Spurs along with Pavlyuchenko then Tottenham will finally allow Dimitar Berbatov to leave for Old Trafford in a reported £25million deal for the classy Bulgarian.
