Spurs Back In For Arshavin? - No Contact For Huntelaar? - Man City's Corluka Still To Come?
Tottenham Hotspur are set to revive their interest in Andrei Arshavin at Zenit St Petersburg, with it understood that the Russian side are willing to lower the playmaker’s price-tag so the move can finally happen.
Spurs expect to complete the signing of Arshavin’s Russian strike-partner Roman Pavlyuchenko from Spartak Moscow by the weekend in a reported £15million (€18.65m) deal, subject to a work permit being granted. With the North London club now looking to snap up 27-year-old Arshavin to partner Pavlyuchenko in attack at White Hart Lane.
Talks were believed to have broken down between Spurs and Zenit 11 days ago, but it now appears that the Russian side are willing to drop their £20million (€24.85m) asking price to allow Arshavin to make his switch to the Premier League.
Tottenham had also been linked with a move for for Dutch forward Klaas Jan Huntelaar, but Ajax claim there has been no contact from Spurs regarding their prolific striker.
However, Spurs manager Juande Ramos has still not given up on prising Vedran Corluka away from Manchester City, with reports suggesting that City boss Mark Hughes is now ready to let the Croatian International leave the Eastlands Stadium for £9million following the signing of Vincent Kompany from Belgian team Anderlecht last week
