Skrtel Serious Knee Blow Confirmed, Liverpool Defender Could Miss Remainder Of The Season
Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel could miss the remainder of the season after it was confirmed that he has suffered damage to posterior cruciate knee ligament.
The exact time span of his injury-enforced absence will be confirmed after the 23-year-old, who underwent a scan this morning, sees a specialist on Tuesday.
Skrtel’s late-second half knee injury soured what had been a fantastic comeback 3-2 victory for the Reds at Manchester City on Sunday.
The Slovakia international, who joined Liverpool from Zenit St Petersburg in January, has established himself as a regular partner for centre-back Jamie Carragher in Rafa Benitez’s side.
"He will see a specialist on Tuesday to assess the extent of the injury," said club spokesman Ian Cotton.
"We will then have an accurate idea of the timescales involved before he is back playing again."
