Romanian Wonderkid Dumitru Copil Snubs Liverpool & Hearts for Celtic Move
Romanian youngster Dumitru Copil on Friday confirmed that he is joining Celtic in January. The midfielder disclosed that he turned down Liverpool and Hearts to move to Scottish League leaders The Bhoys.
The 16-year-old said that his Celtic switch is now '90 per cent certain'.
Copil currently plays for Romanian Third Division side Glorea Arad after being discovered at the age of eight.
Copil is considered to be the best Romanian talent since the legendary Georghi Hagi - and his coach has compared him to Chelsea's Frank Lampard.
The Daily Star quoted the youngster as saying: “I will be going to Celtic on January 3, it is now 90 percent complete. I regard this as a very big honour to join a club like Celtic because they have an excellent European tradition.”
Copil disclosed that he enjoyed his time at Hearts and also liked Liverpool and then came the chance to go to Celtic. “After spending time there I decided that Celtic were the best option for me,” he added.
