Roma To Swoop For Liverpool's Benayoun? - Man City & West Ham Also Linked

West Ham United, Manchester City, Liverpool Premiership Transfer News

Liverpool’s Yossi Benayoun is now being linked with a move to Serie A side AS Roma, despite his agent hitting out earlier in the week when the Israeli International had been linked with a move to his former club West ham united and Manchester City.

Now it has emerged that I Giallorossi are considering a bid for Benayoun, who would replace Amantino Mancini after he left Roma for Italian rivals Inter Milan. With La Magica coach Luciano Spalletti said to be a keen admirer of the 28-year-old, according to skysports.com.

Meanwhile Channel4.com are also claiming that Benayoun will leave Anfield for the Stadio Olimpico. With Spalletti reportedly describing the type of player he is targeting.

Spalletti said: “We are looking for someone very physical who can play as a wide striker.”

However, Benayoun would not appear to be Spalletti’s first choice, with him going on to reveal the complexities of the alternatives.

“Everyone likes David Silva, but he is too expensive,” He continued.

“Lukas Podolski is an excellent player, but would not fit into our style of play.”

“Florent Malouda and Julio Baptista would be good choices, but their future depends on how other transfer deals go.”

If Benayoun should make the switch to Serie A, he would link-up with former team-mate John Arne Riise, who joined Roma for £4million (€5.1m) earlier in the summer.
