Robinho Claims Man City Can Be As Big As Real Madrid
Robinho claimed that Manchester City have what it takes to be one of the best clubs in the world and is hoping that City become as big as Real Madrid.
The Brazilian international star insisted that he is looking forward to lifting a trophy in his debut season at the club.
The 24-year old who joined the Blues for a £32.5million British transfer record deal from Real Madrid on transfer deadline day, has adapted well to the Premier League and has already scored seven goals for Mark Hughes side.
The Blues have put up a rather poor show so far this season in the Premier League and have won just four of the 13 games played. They are currently placed 12th in the Premier League table.
However Robinho claimed that this won’t mar the confidence he has in the team saying "I have great ambitions for the team and myself. I want to be the best player in the world and for City to be one of the best teams.
"The rest of the players and myself admire the ambitions of the owners of this club.
"We all want to strive to make it one of the best in the world. I like the way the game is played here. You still get great goals and great movement.
"It is a physical game here in England but I can cope with it.
"I am adapting well to life here. I get on well with my team-mates, they are good players, and I am learning the language.
"I am in a very good phase and hope this will continue. The best form of my career? Maybe."
Even though City have failed to impress in their League performances they have done fairly well in the UEFA Cup.
The victory against Steve McClaren's FC Twente in their opening Group A match has raised the confidence level in the Blues side.
Robinho claimed that there were plenty of quality players at the club and they could make it to the finals and one day rise to be as big as Real Madrid.
"We can win the UEFA Cup, it is one of our targets for this season," he said.
"We know we are a side that is developing and growing but we also know we are capable of great things when we play well.
"I want to stay here for many years and make history at City and become one of the great heroes. Doing well in the UEFA Cup would be a great start.
"I came to Manchester City because I see them growing and getting bigger. Can they be as big as Real Madrid? Yes, I hope so."
