Everton, Liverpool Premiership Transfer News
Liverpool are set to sign Albert Riera from Espanyol with the Spanish winger having flown in to Merseyside for a medical.
The Reds have beaten city rivals Everton to the capture of the 26-year-old as the deal has been agreed with Espanyol with fee reported to be £8million.
Riera had previously played in England in the 2005-06 season when he was on loan at Manchester City. He was keen on a move to Anfield rather than go to Everton, who reportedly had offered more fee to the Spanish club.
Reds boss Rafa Benitez will be hoping that Riera is the answer to their problems on left wing, where they have struggled to get consistent performances from Yossi Benayoun, and give Ryan Babel more freedom in a central role.
