Reading boss Steve Coppell has dismissed rumours of Czech international striker Jan Koller lined up for Madejski Stadium switch.

He told the Royals' official website: "We've never been in for him, never!

"We had a little spell where we were connected with people, and somebody somewhere made it up."

Coppell however maintained that the Royals will increase the number of new signings by August 31 as till now they have only brought in Kalifa Cisse and Emerse Fae.

Coppell said: "With three games this week we've not been looking so much, but we know what's going on.

"After these matches we have time to reassess, and there's a couple of weeks.

"As always, the last couple of days before the window closes are very lively, and we could be involved."
