Primus, O'Neil & Hughes Operated – To Gain Fitness Along With Campbell, Stefanovic, Taylor & Lauren For Portsmouth’s Pre-Season

Portsmouth Football News Player Injury and Suspension News

Portsmouth trio of Linvoy Primus, Gary O'Neil and Richard Hughes have undergone surgery but they are expected to recover in time for pre-season training.

While centre-back Primus has had an operation on a problematic knee, Hughes and O'Neill have had ankle surgeries.

Pompey physio Gary Sadler told The News: "Linvoy had some joint-surface damage that was causing him problems towards the end of the season. So he's had that cleaned up."

He elaborated: "We give all the players tailored fitness programmes for the summer.

"For the ones who are recovering from injuries or surgery, it's a case of monitoring where they are in terms of their fitness.

"Nearer to the start of pre-season the players who have had injuries will start coming into the training ground to do work to prepare themselves for when everyone else returns."

Sol Campbell, who is on his way to recovery from a torn Achilles, Dejan Stefanovic, Matt Taylor and Lauren are all expected to turn up fit for early July pre-season training.
