Liverpool v Manchester United: Liverpool will be boosted by the return of Reds skipper Steven Gerrard and Spanish striker Fernando Torres to the squad, while United forward Wayne Rooney will be on a high after a decent performance for England in their 4-1 demolition of Croatia in midweek.

Former Spurs star striker Dimitar Berbatov is likely to make his debut for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side for the North-West derby which should be fiercely contested.

Blackburn Rovers v Arsenal: Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz’s fitness will be assessed before the game after playing for Paraguay in their World Cup qualifier, but former Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler may start for Paul Ince’s team after signing a temporary deal with Rovers. Andre Ooijer (hamstring), Vince Grella (calf) and David Dunn (Achilles) are all sidelined.

Arsenal have an injury doubt with Samir Nasri, who missed France’s World Cup 2010 qualifier against Serbia in midweek, while England hat-trick hero Theo Walcott is expected to be sidelined for the match.

Fulham v Bolton Wanderers: The Cottagers’ vastly improved side under Roy Hodgson will be hoping to add to their excellent win in their last game against Arsenal, while Bolton have also started the 2008/09 season on a high, with their only loss coming at the hands of Newcastle United at St James Park in their second game of the season.

Fulham will still be without Diomansy Kamara (knee) for Bolton's visit, with new signing Andy Johnson still doubtful for the clash with a thigh strain, which means the England International may have to wait to make his Fulham Debut.

The Trotters are still missing record signing Johan Elmander (hamstring), along with Matthew Taylor (ankle) and Joey O’Brien, who is still a major doubt with concussion, but loan-signing Ebi Smolarek could make his debut.

(Premiership Latest Verdict: Fulham On A High & Nick Points)

Wigan Athletic v Sunderland AFC: The Latics are flying-high after giving Premier League debutantes Hull City a 5-0 drubbing at the KC Stadium in their last fixture. However, these are the only points Wigan have picked up and are currently 13th in the table.

Jason Koumas is a doubt for the Latics after spraining an ankle playing for Wales, while Paul Scharner (ankle) and Ryan Taylor (knee) are both very doubtful, with Erik Edman still missing through a knee injury. Bruce will be boosted by the return of Chris Kirkland in goal.

Roy Keane will have targeted this game as one in which his Sunderland side can take all three points, but Keane will still be without striker Kenwyne Jones, who is still out with a knee problem, but could have Finland International Teemu Tainio back in the squad.

(Premiership Latest Verdict: Wigan Too Strong At Home)

Portsmouth v Middlesbrough: After the first three games, Pompey have three points following their victory at Everton before the International break, while Boro have six points in their three games so far.

Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch are expected to start up front for Harry Redknapp’s side, with Redknapp expecting the English duo to fire on all cylinders after a fine performance at Goodison Park last time out.

Deadline-day signing Nadir Belhadj is likely to make his debut for Pompey, while Nigerian striker Kanu is back in the frame after working on his fitness.

Croatian playmaker Nick Kranjcar (ankle), Jerome Thomas (back) and Glen Little (thigh) are injured.

Boro also have injury absentees with Turkish striker Tuncay and Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Shawky out with suspected medial ligament damage and hamstring problem respectively.

Former Arsenal striker Jeremie Aliadiere could return for Boro after recovering from a foot injury, while defender David Wheater is doubtful after a bout of tonsillitis.

(Premiership Latest Verdict: Home Advantage Proves Too Strong)

West Bromwich Albion v West Ham Utd: Tony Mowbray’s Baggies find themselves rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table with just a single point, picked up against Bolton Wanderers in their last fixture at the Reebok Stadium, while they face a Hammers side that is looking forward to welcoming new Hammers manager Gianfranco Zola to the fold after replacing Alan Curbishley as the West Ham manager.

Abdoulaye Meite is a doubt for West Brom with a calf strain, but could still feature, while Felipe Teixeira (knee) and Neil Clement (knee) continue to be absent for the Baggies. Loan signing Ryan Donk could feature.

For West Ham, Kieran Dyer is still out with a broken leg, while Jonathan Spector (hip), Danny Gabbidon (groin), James Tomkins (knee) and Jack Collison also miss the trip to the Hawthorns. However loan signings David Di Michele and Henry Ilunga could make their Hammers debuts.

(Premiership Latest Verdict: Zola Factor Could See Hammers Sneak A Win)

Newcastle Utd v Hull City: The Magpies, who are without a manager after Kevin Keegan quit soon after the transfer window closed, will hope to put the off-field activities behind them and build on a promising start, which sees them in 11th place in the table, with former Spurs player and coach Chris Hughton taking charge for the visit of the Tigers and hoping that Michael Owen is back to form.

Phil Brown will want to see his side bounce straight back from their first defeat in the Premier League, a 5-0 thrashing by Wigan Athletic at the KC Stadium, and seize the opportunity of the turmoil at Newcastle to get a result and see the Yorkshire club consolidate their mid-table placing.

(Premiership Latest Verdict: Magpies Out To Prove Something & Take Full Points)

Manchester City v Chelsea: This is the big test for new Manchester City signing Robinho, who spurned Chelsea for a move to The Eastlands on the last day of the summer transfer window.

Much is expected of the Brazilian wonder-kid, but Chelsea still have the ability to win even on a bad day, while Pablo Zabaleta is likely to make his debut and Shaun Wright-Phillips is hoping to face his former club.

Chelsea boss Phil Scolari’s main headache is in the central midfield department as Michael Essien, Michael Ballack and John Obi Mikel are all injured. Joe Cole is the latest player to join the injury list when he suffered a nasty knock on the head in England’s 4-1 win in Croatia in midweek. Should be an interesting encounter!

Stoke City v Everton: Toffees could have transfer deadline day signing Marouane Fellaini making his debut, even as Moyes has been boosted by the recovery of injured midfielders Steven Pienaar and Tim Cahill. However, the Potters game is too soon for the duo.

Summer-signing Louis Saha could at best get a place on the substitutes’ bench after the injury-prone striker moved to Goodison Park from Manchester United, but is apparently yet to be match fit having missed the pre-season.

Toffees’ new-signing, Denmark right-back Lars Jacobsen suffered a shoulder problem on international duty, and as such the 28-year-old is unlikely to feature and will have to wait for his debut.

Pulis also has injury and suspension problems to tackle and goalkeeper Steve Simonsen, who left the Toffees in 2004 summer to join Stoke, could face his old club as first-choice Thomas Sorensen has a back problem. Amdy Faye is suspended, so Glenn Whelan could feature.

Spurs have had a stuttering start to the 2008/09 season, but will be boosted by the performance that gained them their only point in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in their last match.

Martin O’Neill will hope that the Villans can build on a positive start to the season, with them standing in 7th place, but will be looking for a better performance than their last away match to Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium, which they lost 3-2.

Tottenham have no new injury worries, with Hossam Ghaly (knee) and Alan Hutton (ankle) still missing. New signing Russian International Roman Pavlyuchenko looks set for his Premiership debut, following his transfer from Spartak Moscow, while loan signing Frazier Campbell could also feature.

O’Neill also has almost a full squad to choose from, with Wilfred Bouma (ankle) and Steve Sidwell (knee) the only absentees. Gareth Barry is set to lead the Villans after featuring for England recently.
