Premiership Latest & Squad God Gameweek 24 Predictions:
Man City v Arsenal
Man City may well have blamed some balloons for their shocking FA Cup defeat to Sheffield Utd last weekend but, the truth is, they were awful. Arsenal meanwhile have responded very well to their cup humiliation, beating Newcastle twice in the space of 3 days. I expect their quality to prevail, and if Mathieu Flamini plays anything like he did on Tuesday, they should beat City comfortably.
Premiership Latest & SquadGod fantasy football pick: Mathieu Flamini
Arsenal win (0-2)

Wigan v West Ham
Wigan’s pitch could play a major part in this game… it is simply awful! This will probably play into their hands, as West Ham play some good stuff on the deck, especially at home, where the surface is very good. I’d probably go for a draw on that basis, if it wasn’t for Wigan’s lack of striking power. The only player who looks like they will get near the goal is Antoine Sibierski, and I think West Ham can deal with him.
Premiership Latest & SquadGod fantasy football pick: Carlton Cole
West Ham win (0-1)

Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester Utd
I think that this one is the match of the weekend. Spurs matched United in the cup last Sunday, and the only difference was terrible finishing from Jenas, a goalkeeping error from Cerny, and a the post of the Man Utd goal. Spurs fielded a make-shift defence in that game – with midfielders O’Hara and Huddlestone deputising – but have since boosted that area massively with the acquisition of Scotland right back Alan Hutton, and England centre back Jonathan Woodgate. That’s why it is hard to call – that and the fact that Man Utd murdered Spurs on their own ground last season, are the best club in England right now, and have Cristiano Ronaldo on sparkling form. I can’t call it, so i’ll sit on the fence.
Premiership Latest & SquadGod fantasy football pick: Cristiano Ronaldo
Draw (2-2)

Reading v Bolton Wanderers
Bolton have got some problems. Since flogging Anelka they look bereft of goals. Reading meanwhile have not had a problem hitting the onion bag this season, and have Dave Kitson, a man touted for a place in Capello’s first England squad. I see him making the difference here.
Premiership Latest & SquadGod fantasy football pick: Dave Kitson
Reading win (2-0)

Blackburn Rovers v Everton
Blackburn Rovers are a classic old English football team – beat the opponent into submission, and then score a goal to win the game. Doing this has left them unbeaten in their last five games, and back in the race for that 4th spot vacated by the worryingly bad Liverpool. Everton are also a gritty team, who are also vying for that place. In that light, this game is tremendously important for both teams. It’s an important game, but I don’t think it’ll be very pretty to watch, and will result in a draw.
Premiership Latest & SquadGod fantasy football pick: David Bentley
Draw (1-1)
************************
Portsmouth v Chelsea
Portsmouth will be pushing for a European place this season, but that push will have to start after this weekend. Both teams have key players out on African Nations Cup duty, but Chelsea seem to be coping fine without them. Avram Grant seems to have finally bought Chelsea fans what they’ve always wanted – attractive football.
Premiership Latest & SquadGod fantasy football pick: Nicolas Anelka
Chelsea win (0-2)
************************
Birmingham City v Derby County
Birmingham dropped points against Sunderland midweek, and they can not afford to drop any here. Derby have all but conceded that they will be playing in the Championship next season and, with the pressure off them, I think they might just nick a result here.
Premiership Latest & SquadGod fantasy football pick: Giles Barnes
Derby win (0-1)
************************
Liverpool v Sunderland AFC
Sunderland have clawed themselves out of the relegation zone and, to avoid the drop, all they have to do is beat the clubs around them at the foot of the table. Liverpool are not one of those clubs (although we live in hope). The best Roy Keane can hope for is that his side do not suffer a demoralizing drubbing.
Premiership Latest & SquadGod fantasy football pick: Fernando Torres
Liverpool win (3-1)
************************
Newcastle Utd v Middlesbrough
Poor Newcastle, it’s a case of ‘too many chiefs, and not enough goalscorers’. Keegan’s forwards stand their best chance since his arrival, as Boro have just off-loaded Jonathan Woodgate to Tottenham. Their defence may also have an easier time too, as Boro seem to have priced Stuart Downing out of a January transfer, and he may just be pouting come Sunday.
Premiership Latest & SquadGod fantasy football pick: Charles NZogbia
Newcastle win (2-0)
************************
Fulham v Aston Villa
Roy Hodgson may have claimed his first point against Bolton, but 0-0 draws are not going to save Fulham from the drop. A visit from Villa is not going to help the cause either, as Martin O’Neill seems to have instilled the winning habit into his team.
SquadGod fantasy football pick: Martin Laursen
Aston Villa win (0-4)
