Portsmouth's Pedro Mendes is in tremendous pain and in the treatment room with an achilles injury after a nasty challenge with Joey Barton.
Manchester City's England midfielder Joey Barton caught the Portuguese, who had opened the scoring with a superb long-range shot, with his studs. Mendes had to be substituted in the closing stages of the first half with former Arsenal player Lauren coming in.
Pedro Mendes had scored in the 5th minute and till 55th minute, Pompey and City were separated by that goal.
The news are worrying for Pompey manager Harry Redknapp, who saw one of his key players leaving the pitch badly injured.
