Portsmouth v Stoke Premiership Preview: Diarra Suspended For Pompey – Lawrence Out For Potters
Harry Redknapp’s resurgent Portsmouth take on Stoke City in their Premier League match at Fratton Park on Sunday.
Pompey go into this game with Premiership debutantes Stoke full of confidence after a win against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend and their midweek extra-time win in Portugal, which sent the South coast side into the group stages of the UEFA Cup. Which will please Redknapp, with Portsmouth having conceded 10 goals in the previous two games to Manchester City and Chelsea.
Tony Pulis’ Potters side face a tough task to get anything out of this clash with Pompey, but despite losing 2-0 to Chelsea at the Britannia Stadium last week, Stoke can draw confidence from the point they earned against Liverpool at Anfield the week before. City could do with a win though as they are currently in the bottom three in the Premier League.
Portsmouth are unable to call on midfielder Sean Davis (groin), Ben Sahar (knee), Jerome Thomas (back) or Niko Kranjcar (ankle), but Lauren and Richard Duffy could be in contention for the visit of Stoke. Lassana Diarra is suspended after being sent off against Spurs last Sunday.
Pulis is only without Liam Lawrence, who tripped over his dog and sprained his ankle this week, but apart from Lawrence has a fully fit squad to choose from ahead of the trip to Fratton Park.
