Portsmouth v Manchester United Premiership Preview: Giggs, Hargreaves & Park All Major Doubts For United
Harry Redknapp’s Portsmouth entertain the Premier League Champions Manchester United at Fratton Park on Monday night.
Redknapp will be looking for a positive reaction from his team after their 4-0 humbling by Chelsea last week. With Pompey eager to give their fans all three points from their first home game, but this is easier said than done when your opponents are Manchester United, who will come looking for a win.
United got off to a rather lacklustre start at Old Trafford against Newcastle only managing to draw 1-1. However, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will not tolerate anything less than perfection from his superstars and will not be happy with anything less than all three points.
Portsmouth have a full squad to choose from, with only Noe Pamarot (thigh) a major doubt for the United game in a squad that has seen Armand Traore arrive from Arsenal on loan this week, but with no one leaving Fratton Park.
Ferguson is still missing Cristiano Ronaldo (os Trigonum syndrome), Louis Saha (knee) and Michael Carrick (ankle), with Ryan Giggs, Park Ji-Sung and Owen Hargreaves, all very doubtful to be fit in time to face Portsmouth.
Portsmouth From: James, Primus, Kaboul, Lauren, Johnson, Diarra, Hreioarsson, Diop, Crouch, Nugent, Thomas, Distin, Utaka, Mvuemba, Kranjcar, Cranie, Ashdown, Hughes, Campbell, Duffy, Little, Sahar, Kanu, Davis, D Traore, A Traore, Wilson.
