Portsmouth’s Pedro Mendes Sorry To Be Ruled Out With Big Games With Arsenal, Man United, Newcastle & Liverpool To Come
Portsmouth midfielder Pedro Mendes is disappointed as he will be out of action for up to two months after undergoing a surgery following his ankle injury.
Pompey have of late endured a loss of form, which has seen them slide down the Premiership table to ninth position.
Harry Redknapp’s side were up in the third place in December and had harboured an aim of making it into Europe.
"I've had to undergo surgery, which is not good news with the games we have coming up," Mendes told The News.
"It is a ligament injury to the right ankle. It was a simple surgery which was a success.
"But I am still frustrated because of the games that we have to play. We have some big games.
"There is Arsenal, Manchester United, Newcastle and Liverpool coming up, and I wanted to play a part.
"Portsmouth want me to be ready as soon as possible. At the first look it seems I will have to completely stop for two weeks and have the time to recover.
"The medical staff hope I can have more physio and be ready to run then, but let's wait and see."
