Portsmouth's Defoe Raring To Go
Striker Jermain Defoe is happy and raring to go for his new club, Portsmouth after he joined Harry Redknapp’s side from Tottenham Hotspur on the final day of January transfer window.
Defoe had been left frustrated with lack of opportunities at the North London club and as such saw himself out of England squad named yesterday by Fabio Capello.
"It feels great," the 25-year-old Three Lions international told Sky Sports News.
"I'm delighted. It has been a long time coming and I'm looking forward to the challenge.
"I was sweating a little bit to be honest, but at the end of the day when it all went through I was delighted."
While commenting on his spell at Spurs, he added: "I was getting a bit frustrated as I wasn't playing a lot of football. I want to score goals and now I'm a Pompey player and I'm looking forward to the challenge. Sometimes in life you have got to think about yourself."
