Portsmouth Lose Out As Chelsea's Wright-Phillips Joins Man City For Second Time
England International Shaun Wright-Phillips has joined Manchester City for a second spell after completing a move to the Eastlands Stadium from Chelsea on Thursday.
26-year-old Wright-Phillips has put pen to paper on a four-year deal at City for an undisclosed fee after passing a medical. Which ends his frustrating three-year stay at Stamford Bridge, where the winger only made 43 starts for Chelsea.
Wright-Phillips left the North West side for Chelsea in a reported £21million deal three years ago and is now set to become part of the new era at City under boss Mark Hughes.
Hughes said: “I've always admired him and he's certainly been a target of mine since I came to the football club.
“To actually secure the deal and bring Shaun back home is a fantastic coup for us and I'm sure the supporters will be just as excited as we are to have him back at Manchester City.”
City are expected to unveil Wright-Phillips to the media at a press conference on Friday.
Portsmouth had also been chasing Wright-Phillips, but look set to miss out as the player has opted for the Eastlands ahead of Fratton Park.
