Portsmouth Boss Redknapp Claims Kaboul Set For Aston Villa, Tottenham’s Tainio In Talks Over Sunderland Move

Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland, Portsmouth, Aston Villa Premiership Transfer News

Tottenham defender Younes Kaboul seems to be heading to Aston Villa, while midfielder Teemu Tainio appears keen to sign for Sunderland.

French centre-back Kaboul, who is also interesting Portsmouth, is set for Villa Park, according to Pompey boss Harry Redknapp.

Redknapp said in the Express & Star: “I would like a centre-half. Younes Kaboul wants to come here, but I heard he is going to Villa. I don’t think there is anything he can do about it.

“If Villa are in for him he may have to go there. We made an offer with what we thought was a fair valuation but if we want some new players in, we also need to sell a few.”

Meanwhile, Sunderland boss Roy Keane’s interest in Tainio, has the Finnish international flattered and looking to seal the move.

"Of course it's flattering that such a legend would like me to play in his team," Tainio told Ilta Sanomat.

"Sunderland and Tottenham agreed to the transfer for the common interest and Sunderland would be an interesting option.

"The first impression was good but the transfer still has a course to run. My negotiations are still taking place.

"Sunderland have a great stadium as well as tremendous fans.

"I understand they are interested in playing me in the centre of midfield."
