Portsmouth Boss Harry Redknapp Dismisses Reports On Selling Off Nugent to Derby County If He Gets Anelka From Bolton
Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp has dismissed reports that he is considering selling David Nugent to Derby County.
Reports at the weekend have suggested that Pompey want to sign Nicolas Anelka from Bolton Wanderers and if they get the Frenchman, then Redknapp will decide on the sale of England U-21 international Nugent, who has joined Pompey earlier this summer.
Redknapp however ridiculed reports that he would sell Nugent but mentioned that the former Preston player will have to be patient.
"Derby do want to sign him. They'd like him," Redknapp told The News. "But he's only just joined us and I'm happy to keep him here. He's a young player.
"Obviously he wants to play but at the moment Kanu's been absolutely brilliant, Utaka's a threat and Benjani does well so it's been difficult for David. He has to be patient."
